Love.

Love.

As we get into the Valentine’s Day spirit, I’m struck by all the love around me. I am very fortunate to have a husband and daughter that love me and fills my heart with joy. Right now, I’m looking at one of my dogs, who looks up at me with nothing BUT love 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I think that deep down, the people who work with and for me, love me in their own way. And, I have some of the very best friends in the world. They show me love in ways I can’t even describe.

I am a lucky girl.

But funny enough, I’ve never been a big Valentine’s Day kind of girl. I always figured if someone loves you, why do they need a day to tell you that? Shouldn’t they be telling you and showing you that every day?

But then I think, maybe the holiday is there for us to be able to take a moment and stop to think about the people in our lives that we love and find a way to make sure that they know it, especially if it’s not being said every day.

When we started With You, we talked a lot about why we wanted to create a company that made lockets and it always came back to the idea of giving people a way to carry those they loved with them every day. The company started out of loss and my hope that my sister could in some way have my father with her on a day filled with love – her wedding day, but over time, I have realized that it’s not just about loss but also about the ability for people to find strength from those they love (here or not) whenever they need them.

I wear different people/animals at different times. My dad gets to come out to fun parties and is with me when I am having a big day. My husband and daughter are kind of an everyday strength I like to have with me and my recently departed dog, Jameson, is with me because it’s a little bit raw and I miss her a lot now.

So, as you’re thinking about how to show someone you love that you REALLY love them on Valentine’s Day, you may want to consider giving them the gift of being able to carry someone they love every day with them, even if it isn’t you.

The best part of watching someone open one of our lockets is the fact that since we will print, cut and place the photo inside, you get to see their face when they realize that someone they love is inside.

I will tell you that it never gets old for me. I look forward to hearing all the stories of your day love.
