As I sit on the train making my way home from NYC, I am enjoying a beautiful view of the Hudson River. But, I’m looking forward to the day that I no longer enjoy it quite so often.
For the last four years, I’ve commuted almost four hours a day, three times a week to Manhattan. I do some of my best thinking on the train and a little over a year ago, I started to consider ways that I could keep on doing what I do, but doing it a bit closer to home. That’s when I knew it was time to get to it and start With You, an idea I had been talking about for nearly 10 years.
Though the concept began as a way to honor my father, the driving factor today is my desire to be closer to home and to my family.
I have a husband that I love. And a three year old who I want to spend more time with. Today, I carry a photo of them in my locket and often find myself reaching down to hold it, wishing we were together and not two hours away from one another. The success of this company will ultimately allow me to be more present in their lives.
I definitely have not figured this all out yet. But I’m so hopeful and energized by everyone who has supported us so far. We are driven by the idea of bringing people closer and honoring the ones we love, no matter where they are.
And for me, maybe it’s about finding a new place to do my best thinking.
